By way of explanation

Photography is a practice through which we record and remember and through which we learn of other times, other places, other people.

Where other cultures might pass information through the generations by story telling or song, we of the industrial societies do that by written word and image. Viewing a photograph is to relive the experence of being there.

Thus, pointing a camera and pressing the shutter is a cultural practice that captures impressions of friends and family, place and society.
