About the image...

Blue Knob

The bluff of Blue Knob domiates the landscape around Nimbin, NSW. The knob forms one end of the Nightcap Range, a rim of mountains covered in subtropical rainforest and scene of a successful campaign to stop logging in the 1980s.

The image was taken looking west from the Djanbung Gardens Permaculture training centre, the farm dam of which appears as foreground.

Because of the cloudy sky and flat lighting, the picture was produced as black and white rather than in the subdued blues and greens of the day.
